Overview of Role:

RLB are recruiting an Associate for Sustainability Services to join our team in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). You will be an experienced and highly motivated Net Zero and sustainability professional to fulfil the role of leading the business sustainability and net zero services offerings to support clients across KSA with their transition to low-carbon and sustainable future models.

This is an exciting opportunity for a sustainability expert to join a rapidly expanding consultancy business and strengthen our KSA team. The role is based in our office in Riyadh, with direct responsibility of leading teams and our services.

You will be a key part in shaping a consultancy offering, whilst delivering some of the most exciting and challenging sustainability commissions. Key responsibilities:

  • Significant depth and breadth of experience of delivering carbon and sustainability services to clients.
  • Knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks and indices.
  • Detailed knowledge of carbon accounting, measurement techniques and calculation methods for Scopes 1 and 2 and Scope 3 categories.
  • Knowledge of issues surrounding climate change, including but not limited to climate-related risks and opportunities and climate analysis/resiliency strategies.
  • Understanding of corporate sustainability strategies, target setting (science-based) and reduction plans.
  • Experience of supply chain engagement including assessment, management, assurance and audit requirements.
  • Experience of stakeholder engagement and analysis including materiality assessment, interviews, workshops, and peer benchmarking.
  • Firm professional grasp of the net zero and sustainability agenda.
  • Corporate net zero programmes and strategy.
  • Costed decarbonisation roadmap for building assets.
  • Low carbon & sustainable design & certification for new construction.
  • Knowledge of embodied or whole life carbon calculation or strategy on refurbishment and new build projects.
  • Reporting and disclosure in relation to corporate climate reporting, ESG and TCFD’s.
  • Strategy and project delivery experience in the built environment.
  • Programme and project management and leadership.
  • Commission management including defining scope with the client and quality control of deliverables, report writing and outputs.
  • Business development, preparing proposals and winning work.
  • Ability to lead and continuously improve service delivery on commissions, supporting clients and colleagues to understand and maximise sustainability in projects and programmes.
  • An ability to advise cost and commercial teams, on requirements around carbon calculations and reduction.
  • A track record of working with and managing teams and projects by prioritising workloads and delivering deadlines.

Job requirements

Person Specification:

The ideal candidates will demonstrate a positive proactive approach to the role and will be committed to delivering customer service excellence, with good commercial results.

  • Degree qualified in related industry, engineering and/or construction.
  • LEED/BREEAM certifications.
  • Excellent understanding of the policy and political landscape around sustainability in the Middle East.
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English and a confident and clear approach to providing advice to others in meetings.
  • Expected minimum of 10 years’ experience post degree qualification.
  • Experience in a consulting or advisory role.
  • Enthusiasm for growing a team and business in a fast-moving environment.
  • A team player, outgoing, flexible, enthusiastic, and ambitious.
